The L Family

When you spend only a few minutes outside this time of year, you get why people love having their photos taken in the fall. Joelle and Andrew just celebrated their son Henry's first birthday and it was about time to get some proper family photos.

What a cute little dude. This guy has no problem having his picture taken. He was hamming it up for the camera the entire time we were out. We basically went out to the same area where we had done Joelle's maternity photos, a little over a year ago.

Check out what we got from that beautiful autumn Sunday.

Danica & Ryan's Engagement Party

We were hooked up with Danica and Ryan through our friend Chantal, whom we did a fun winter shoot with last year. We were asked to come take pictures at the engagement party for these two in Emily Murphy park.

What a fun night. We were fed awesome pulled pork sandwiches, met great people and even got a chance to steal the couple away to do a mini-engagement shoot.

Take a look at what we got from this beautiful September evening.

Ruth & Justin

There's a train over head!

One of the things we love about engagement shoots is getting to know the couples of whom we will be taking photos of on their BIG DAY. It lets them get to see how Brad and I work without the stressful time crunch of getting the photo session done in the limited amount of time between the wedding ceremony and the reception.

Brad and I also get to see what the couple is like. What they find funny. The limits they will go to get the shot.

Ruth and Justin are fearless!

We took them to an active, iron railway bridge, had them climb up on the girders and THEN a train came over their heads! It was intense! But the shots speak for themselves. These two are a blast and we are really looking forward to September when we get to spend the whole day with them.

Check out the shots from that day and others like this in the Portraits section of the site.

Alex & Frank - Engagement Shoot

It seems only fitting on this day when everyone is reflecting about the sacrifices of our brave men and women in the armed services, that we get to highlight an engagement shoot we did for Alex & Frank.

Alex is a school teacher. Frank serves in the military. They met with us in August excited for their New Years Eve wedding and wanted dbphotograohics involved. In that meeting, they mentioned that they would love to have pictures of Frank in his dress uniform and that they wanted to do a nostalgic, 1940s photoshoot as their engagement session.

Brad & I lit up at the idea!

On a cold October day, we met at the Alberta Aviation Museum. Alex looked stunning. Frank very sharp. We had such a blast and I really think it came through in the photos.

I can't wait for their snowy, December wedding. Check out the Portraits section of the page for other sessions we have done.

...and let us know your thoughts on this shoot in the comment section below, or on our Facebook page.

Erik's Awesome Birthday

Erik's wife Athena is a fantastic woman. For his birthday, she booked a photoshoot with her and five of his hottest lady friends to do a Beauty and the Geek shoot.

Brad and I set up in their garage on the +30 September afternoon and had a great time. The ladies were really into it and I think it came across in the photos.

Also, check out his blog post recapping the whole day including a behind the scenes video.

Happy birthday Erik!

The Benefits of a Photography Partnership

As Brad and I are always trying to learn and grow with our photography, sometimes we need to practice setups, lighting, posing. It works out well that my wife and daughter are always up for a shoot.

We are currently expecting our second and thought it would be a great time to head out to her father's property just north of the city and do a maternity/family/fall shoot. The weather was perfect, the light was awesome and he were able to capture a moment in time of our family.

Check out the shots below a see what we mean.

Thanks Brad for doing such a great job!

Candace & Tony - One Year Before...

On August 18, 2012, Candace and Tony are getting married. For fun, we did their engagement shoot exactly one year to the day.

They were troopers. Brad and I took them up and down Whyte Ave. We went to some alleys and caught a beautiful post rain sunset.

The real fun was working with the great staff at Bistro La Persaud, Coney Island Candy and the Red Square Vodka House. We got to take over certain sections to get some cool photos.

Head over to the Portraits section of the site to see other shots from this session.

See you in a year, Candace & Tony!- dave
