Fall Portrait Blitz 2015

Another Portrait Blitz has come and gone and we've delivered the images to all of the families that participated in the event. We thought we'd share some of the images from the day with you.

We certainly had a great day with everyone. Big thanks to everyone who participated. It was great that we got to work with a mix of new clients and some loyal clients as well. We love seeing the young ones growing up from photo shoot to photo shoot!!

We plan on having more and more of these photo blitz events so make sure to "like" our Facebook page so you can get updates on exactly when we are having another event.

Take a look at some of the shots from our Fall Portrait Blitz below.

Cassie & Drew

We captured a rainbow!

It was a bright one too. While traipsing through the river valley, trying to avoid the rain, we stopped to check a setting on the camera and when we looked up, we saw one of the clearest rainbows we had seen in a long time. Such a great thing to catch.

After that, we led Cassie and Drew under Saskatchewan Drive and over to the High Level Bridge for some night time shots. Pretty happy with how this session turned out.

Looking forward to this wedding next year.

Jennifer & David... and Carter

With Jennifer & David's son Carter turning 2 months old recently, we thought it was high time we posted the photos we took of the couple as they were preparing for the arrival of the little guy!

We met on a chilly October evening to get some photos of the couple only a few short weeks before their son was due to be born. Carter joined Jennifer & David on November 3rd. We are very happy for them all!

Here is a look at some of the photos from that day:

The Christies

This family is a really close one to mine. Even though proximity wise that is not the case, when we get together we just pick up where we left off. Now our kids are the same way being so close in age.

I had done photos years ago for them when there were only 3 members to this family. Now there are 5. We head up to Lake Minnewanka on a cold November day before a massive snow storm. We had to be really quick but even so, I love the  personality captured in the shots. I hope you do to.

Gwen is here!

I love at home new born sessions. There is something about capturing a young family in the place where they spend most of their time. In their element. I was so excited to meet Gwendolyn, especially because it gave me an excuse to reconnect with longtime friends Kim and Treena.

Enjoy these shots from the session.

V's First Birthday

How time flies!

Little Violet is already a year old. It really doesn't feel like that long ago that we took her newborn photos. This girl is so little put running around like crazy.

So also seemed fascinated by the camera. It was really fun to hang out with her again.

Enjoy a sample of what we got before her party.

Miss I is 1

She's just too cute! Every time I pointed the camera at her, she would just give the best looks. These three are long time friends and I was honoured to have them ask me to do a session.

It was so much fun watching her walk around and explore downtown. From the looks of it, she was having fun too.

Amy & Ian

We can't wait for this wedding. It takes place in one of my favourite areas of town, the theatre district. While we wait, we had a chance to go out with these two (and their dogs) into Mill Creek Ravine and get a fun series of shots.

I love that Amy asked us to get some photos of them beside the fire. I'm glad she did because I think we really captured these two in their element.

Check them out and let us know what you think!

Dawn & Kaitlin

This was such a treat!

I love doing pictures for family. My sister-in-law Dawn has been asking me to do photos of her and her girlfriend Kaitlin for a while. So when we finally get time, it is of course on the windiest and coldest day of the year.  I think the tears in our eyes froze.

We still got some fun stuff. Kaitlin also got a few done with her brother Jamie. Not a bad Christmas present. We then quickly ducked intoa building and used their staircase for some of the warmer shots.

Enjoy!

Karena & Justin

One of the things we really love about shooting weddings is meeting the bridal party that surrounds the couple on their big day. Last year, when Brad & I shot Robert & Melissa's wedding at TELUS Field, we got to know their friends.

Since then, we are now booked to shoot the wedding of Alicia and Rob and a few weeks ago got to shoot another bridesmaid Karena and her husband Justin. We had been planning it for a few days and it turned out that the day we finally chose, was the first big snow of the season.

We ran outside, got some quick shots around Saskatchewan Drive, then headed into the Three Boars restaurant to warm up (and snap a few shots).

Enjoy!

Gaea & Kurt

This location was quite the coup.

Brad and I have been dying to shoot here. It required a few stars lining up to make it happen. The right couple, the right time of day and an open fence.

I think the shots we got speak for themselves. We can't wait for their wedding next year.

Can you guess where we were?

Allison, Harris and Violet

We love doing newborn sessions. Especially when we get to shoot in the comfort and warmth of the little one's new home. There is something awesome about photos where the new family is simply cuddling on the couch or lying in bed just staring at each other.

Here is Allison (who we met in a Canmore wedding party), Harris and their new little Violet.

Congrats you guys! She's beautiful!

Jen & Pierre

After a bit of a delay due to the weather, Dave and I finally met up with Jen & Pierre to do an engagement photo session. It was a fun time for sure. It always makes us laugh when couples tell us how non-photogenic they are - and then when the session starts, and we ask them to just snuggle together or hold each other their obvious love for each other makes the photo just happen. Never fails.

Here are some photos from the session - I think you can see what I mean. Don't they look great?

Max

This is Max.

You met his parents, Marika and Steven, just days before this little guy made his appearance. He is such a tiny little dude and SO patient.

You could tell right away how much love these two had for their most recent addition. I think that really comes across in the shots below.

Check 'em out!

Ethan

So lucky to be the one who gets to take photos of this little dude. Such a cute little man.  Amber and Bing were mine and Brad's first wedding as dbphotographics.ca. Now we get to shoot the next stage in their lives.

Amber shares a job with us in our corporate world. We miss having her around, but to see the joy in her eyes when she looked at Ethan, well we can't blame her for wanting to spend every moment with him.

This is our favourite kind of new born session, in the warmth of the family home. Amongst his new things. In his new room. With his new sister, Mika the dog.

Check it out!

Marika & Steven - Maternity

We got to these shots right in time! Two days after these pictures were taken, Marika gave birth to the lovely, little Max.

With the weather being as cold as it has been, as late into the year as it has been, we took advantage of the long days and feet deep snow. When the cold got to us, we decided to return home and capture the last few moments before this couple became three.

Shelby & Brandon - Engaged

Man... winter can be cold. Even when it is only -3, the cold can hit you quickly. We had initially set up Shelby and Brandon to do their session in the fall, but schedules just didn't work out. So mid-February it was!

We had a blast hanging out in some alleys and traipsing through the snow, however, when the cold finally got to us, the folks at the Mercer Tavern were gracious enough to let us in and take some shots there.

Check out what we got and other shoots like this in the Portraits section of the page.

We'll see these two again soon for their Canmore wedding.
